Discover Our Premium Organic Cashews | PlantLife

Here at PlantLife, we're very proud of our cashews. We have a few different choices to help you find the perfect cashew for you. Our whole cashew kernels are just like our jumbo cashews – a little bit smaller but with no compromises on quality, flavour, and texture.

Cashews have a pleasantly soft yet crunchy consistency and delicious taste that have made them beloved worldwide. They're renowned as premium nuts, as their unique life cycle makes them tricky to grow correctly.

The Finest Cashews for the Best Snacking Experience

We source our nuts from Burkina Faso and Vietnam, selecting only the finest nuts to ensure quality. Cashews are the seed of the cashew tree, which grows up to 14 metres and takes three years to start producing seeds. Cashew trees produce beautiful cashew fruit, usually referred to as the cashew apple, from which the seed emerges when it's ready for harvesting. While this fruit is itself edible, it's the delicate cashew kernel that is the true prize.

Our modern facilities use a combination of eco-friendly pressure treatment and cutting-edge spectroscopy to check, clean, and select our products, guaranteeing premium quality in every pack. The whole process is done without harmful artificial processing methods, for sustainable snacking that's Right by Nature.

Cashew nuts are a great source of magnesium, manganese, vitamin E, B1, iron, and zinc - essential nutrients that help the body metabolise and create energy from food. They also contain the essential amino acid tryptophan, which the body converts into serotonin and melatonin. Cashews are also a great source of antioxidants, which can help fight the effects of ageing and protein, perfect for muscle growth and repair.

These tasty cashews are perfect for snacking or for use in various recipes. You can incorporate cashews into anything from scrambled tofu and stir-fries to soup, salads, and stews.

FAQ

Jumbo cashews are a variety of cashew nuts known for their larger size compared to regular cashews. They are characterized by their plump kernels and are often considered a premium grade of cashew nuts.

Yes, jumbo cashews are a nutritious snack when consumed in moderation. They are a source of healthy fats, including monounsaturated fats, and provide essential nutrients such as protein, dietary fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Cashews can support heart health, aid in weight management due to their satiety-promoting properties, and offer various other health benefits.

Cashew nuts are derived from the cashew tree (Anacardium occidentale), which is native to northeastern Brazil. Today, cashews are cultivated in several countries with tropical climates, including India, Vietnam, Nigeria, and many others. Our Plantlife organic jumbo cashews are sourced in Burkina Faso and Vietnam.

Cashews are relatively expensive due to the labor-intensive process required to harvest and process them. Each cashew nut is encased in a hard shell that contains a toxic resin. Harvesting and shelling cashews require careful handling to avoid contact with the resin. Additionally, cashew trees produce relatively low yields compared to other nut trees, contributing to their higher cost.

Cashews can be part of a heart-healthy diet. While they contain fats, these are primarily healthy monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, which can help lower "bad" LDL cholesterol levels when included in a balanced diet. However, it's important to consume cashews in moderation as part of an overall healthy eating pattern to reap their benefits.
